My mother taught me to sew when I was eight years old. Mother, Grandma and Aunt Sharon have long been an influence in my textile creations. It was not until my daughter was born in 1993 that I learned about Waldorf education, founded by Rudolph Steiner. My daughter flourished during her two years of Waldorf kindergarten and I became impassioned by the integration of the arts in the curriculum. I fell in love with and started creating these sweet and simple dolls and soon people wanted to purchase them from me.
At present I work full time for the California Legislature and therefore have a limited amount of time for doll making. I manage to sell a few dolls at Waldorf education events in Northern California and the San Francisco Bay Area. I also occasionally sell my dolls at the Davis Farmers Market in Davis, California. Teaching doll making has been one of my most rewarding experiences. Once I retire, doll making will move to the forefront of my life. In the meantime, enjoy my gallery photos and watch my calendar for events.
